Day 7

November 11, 2019

November 11, 2019 Los Angeles, CA

This photograph was taken at 6:13 AM on 11/11/19. Four hours later, almost the minute, I broke my arm just around the corner from here on Spring Street. No need to go into detail. Suffice to say it involved a crack on the sidewalk, and no, no phone or picture taking was involved.

This unfortunate turn of events has made it difficult to take photographs each day. Not to mention editing and writing. However, I have still managed to take, at the very least, one photo everyday since. Posting has been delayed but only about a week. So, no excuse I suppose. I have had to get more creative with my phone, as I am presently unable to press the shutter button on my DSLR. Can’t zoom in or out so everything through, at least, day 14 has required me to position myself where I need to be to take the best photo with the only possible distance available to me. Good practice for when using a prime lens.

In the larger scheme of things, this incident has served to show me what I am most passionate about. That up to this point, things that seemed hobbies, or “just for fun”, are actually priorities I have put aside in the name of career. It’s made me assess what I want to do with my life from here on out.

If I am perfectly honest, this whole year has been about this reassessment. Events that have transpired, decisions I have made, unplanned detours, have been pushing for this change. The Universe has quite literally broken my bones to get my attention (the arm break happened while I was at work and because of it I cannot perform this type of work for some time). Funny that I have been, not ignoring, but definitely taking my time, fully acknowledging the signs, until now. All this to say this is going to be a much more interesting ride than anticipated. Hope you hang with me for it.
