Day 259
July 20, 2020
This tree, playing incognito on the residential side of Montana Avenue, always makes me so happy when I walk past it. I love the twisted trunk that so closely resembles the wood used for the fence. It’s like it’s trying to not be noticed, but it’s so lovely you can’t help but notice it. It always makes me think “tree of life”, with its branches reaching high and in every direction. Throughout the world, in history, in theology, and in mythology there is no consistent genus for the Tree of Life, so I suppose it could be any tree of your choosing. For me, in Santa Monica, maybe it’s this tree.
