Day 309

September 8, 2020

September 8, 2020 Santa Monica, CA

The fire situation in California has gone from bad to worse. Aside from the fires burning in Northern California we have two big ones very close to home. The Bobcat Fire has burned over 10,300 acres, as of this morning, in the Angeles National Forest and there is no containment yet. The other one is the El Dorado Fire which was started by a pyrotechnic set off at a gender reveal party. That one has burned over 10,500 acres of the San Bernardino National Forest and is at 16% containment. Now, I have been debating commenting here how I feel about the El Dorado Fire, but honestly, I am so angry. How can people be so careless and stupid? We have wild fires every year. It’s not a question of if, but when. Why would anyone think it is OK to use an incendiary device in or near a forest? In California? In September? The air quality is so bad right now, we can’t go outside. Outside is all we have in this pandemic and now going outside puts people even more at risk because the air quality is so bad. It’s so frustrating, but people are selfish and it breaks my heart.
