Day 314
September 13, 2020
A tiny bit of hope in the skies. We saw some blue peeking through today and the air doesn’t seem as bad as the last couple of days. The air quality index still shows it’s bad out there but less bad is something. Today was my last day of pandemic unemployment. Wanted to do a hike or a day at the beach but it just didn’t seem like a good idea. Instead I drove over to Adelaide Drive to catch the sunset, definitely worth it. The fires are still burning, The Bobcat Fire has burned over 30,000 acres. The El Dorado Fire is near 15,000 acres. Homes and other structures have been destroyed, many more are still in danger, people are still being evacuated, and it remains too early to tell how much damage has been done to natural areas. Some containment has been achieved but we still have a ways to go to get these fires under control and for the air to clear up. Rain would be so welcome right about now.
