Day 317
September 16, 2020
The view from River Road on the Universal Studios lot. Working here is always such a fun adventure. These days, the amusement park is closed and there are no trams rolling around the lot. This means the lot feels much quieter than it normally does. In the before times, the trams, filled to the brim, would cruise on by and we had to give them right of way while driving on the lot. If you were lucky to have an office on the route you’d be treated to a piece of the tour, on repeat, all day long. For nearly a year I was working in a space that was on the exact spot where the tour guide would do their Alfred Hitchcock bit. It got to where I could recite every line exactly as they would do it. That part of the tour is no longer. They gotta keep things fresh.
Fire update: not much has changed. The Bobcat fire is still going and it’s somewhere around 3% containment. Not great progress but Mt. Wilson is still safe. Hoping for rain or something to help the poor firefighters with this situation.
