Day 161

April 13, 2020

April 13, 2020 Santa Monica, CA

These purple flowers are called Pride of Madeira and they originate from the island of Madeira. I love these guys but apparently they are considered an invasive species in California. The are removed from native plant communities as part of native plant conservation. These things are everywhere, and I always thought it was by choice. Apparently they are perfect for our Southern California weather as they are drought resistant. Who knew!?!

Today, the friend I walked around the reservoir with a few weeks ago drove down to meet me near the beach. Palisades Park is now completely fenced off so we couldn’t walk down there. Instead we walked up Adelaide Drive where we can get this lovely view of the ocean and a little piece of the beach. Adelaide is a quiet, lovely little street with gorgeous homes, some historic, lining the southern side and this gorgeous view on the northern side. Because the traffic there is minimal we were able to walk at the proper distance from each other. It was really nice to spend an hour with a friend while enjoying some of the most beautiful views in the neighborhood. Today was a really good day.
