Day 162
April 14, 2020
The Snowy Egret, mid fluffing, is a native resident of the Ballona (ba-yo-nuh) Wetlands which can be found just off the northwest corner of the Del Rey Lagoon. This area is protected and is in the process of being restored. The Wetlands and lagoons are a pitstop in the migratory Pacific Flyway, which extends from Alaska to Patagonia. There are so many different types of creatures that live here with many visitors during migration. Other birds that can be found in the area are the the Great Blue Heron, the Great Egret, a variety of Sand Pipers, Gulls, and even Ospreys. Spending the morning here was one of the best things I’ve done recently. There is so much to see and hear. All these birds are constantly “chatting” or maybe arguing, can’t really tell. Regardless, I’ll be coming back. Hopefully the Wetlands will reopen to the public before it gets too hot. I’ve never been and am looking forward to exploring the area further.
