Day 139

March 22, 2020

March 22, 2020 Santa Monica, CA

Today started out sunny and comfortable for a morning run. By early afternoon the clouds rolled in, the rain started coming down, and there was a bit of a chill in the air. Had to make do with the wind chimes on my porch. It was actually a very nice afternoon to be stuck indoors. Snuggling with a cup of tea and a good book was just the thing.

In pandemic news, seems everyone decided to hit the beach yesterday. So much so that Malibu and Santa Monica reported crowded beaches and hiking trails. People were not listening. So now the beaches, parks, and beach parking lots are closed. This means the 75,000 acres of parks and beaches are no longer accessible. The beaches are public, so even if you own beachfront property and the beach is your back yard, you cannot step off your porch. It’s super frustrating that those of us that live nearby (no, I absolutely do not own beachfront property – if only), who use the parks and beaches regularly, are no longer allowed to do so. I suppose we have bigger problems but that was definitely one way to cope that is now gone. I was just thinking, I opted to run in the neighborhood this morning instead of going to the beach. I figured I’d get down there with a telephoto lens in the afternoon and shoot from across the street. Well, that’s what I get for taking things for granted. These days, nothing is guaranteed, the world is changing, very quickly.
