Day 226
June 17, 2020
Today, a friend and I met at Staircases, a pretty secluded beach north of Leo Carillo. I had never been there and it was truly one of my favorite places to visit. Mostly surfers make use of it since, in high tide, there is very little sand to speak of. Not to mention getting to the beach from the top of the bluff is a bit tricky. Narrow, winding, slippery path, but so worth it. During the later part of our exploration we found another set of stairs, hence staircases, and went up to see what we’d find. After squeezing through a very narrow, overgrown entrance (or possibly damaged fence?) we made our way to the edge of the bluff. The erosion in places creates some very interesting shapes and views.
The shot above is from the farther edge of the bluff, there is a big drop between that and the edge seen here. The whole place is absolutely stunning. So glad we found this beach. Need to return at sunset, but I recently found a list of other secluded beaches I need to explore first.
