Day 237

June 28, 2020

June 28, 2020 Los Angeles, CA – Westwood Village Memorial Park

There is a tiny cemetery, that if you blink you’ll miss it, in Westwood. It’s literally nestled between a high-rise office building and a playground just south of Wilshire. Because of the current state of the world, many of the things I’ve been wanting to explore and photograph are closed. This has led me to spending lots of time combing through the internet for interesting things I’m not familiar with that may be accessible. Little did I know this cemetery is just a couple of miles from home. Turns out it is the final rating place of Marilynn Monroe, along with Ray Bradbury, Natalie Wood, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and many other famous names. However, Joe DiMaggio chose the location because the two women who cared for Marilynn as a child were buried there. It’s a lovely little place, very peaceful and so well maintained. It was a nice quiet walk and the trees are gorgeous. There are only a couple of this size. All the other foliage is mostly rose gardens and greens. It really is that small.
