Day 263
July 24, 2020
The old Loyola Theater on Sepulveda and Manchester in the Westchester neighborhood of Los Angeles was in operation from 1946 to 1982. It was converted into medical offices after a short stint as the home for an Eastern religious group. The building, the ticket box, and the tower, which rises sixty feet above where the marquee used to be, have been designated historic monuments. But not before the inside was completely gutted to accommodate the new use. LA is really the worst at appreciating and protecting its history, it’s heart breaking.
