Day 276

August 6, 2020

August 6, 2020 Jerome, AZ – Gold King Mine & Ghost Town

This is one of the largest buildings that make up the Gold King Mine & Ghost Town in Jerome. Not so much a ghost town and more of a collection of old vehicles surrounding old buildings and a mine shaft, with some goats, chickens, and other barnyard animals to round out the experience.

The exhibit/outdoor museum/tourist draw opened to the public in 1982, a year after it was rediscovered by it’s owner Terry Roberston. Definitely a great place to spend several hours taking pictures of, well, everything. It’s weird, and quirky, and worth the drive if you’re staying in Sedona. More photos and details may be found in the Sedona 2020 entry in the Travel section.
