Day 37
December 11, 2019
The California Science Center is located within Exposition Park which includes the Natural History museum, the California African American Museum, the Los Angeles Coliseum (opening and closing ceremonies for the 1984 Summer Olympics were held here), and the Lucas Museum of Narrative, which is expected to be completed in 2021.
The original California State Exhibition building was constructed in 1912 as designed by Architect William D. Coates. In 1951 it was renamed the California Museum of Science and Industry. In 1994 the building suffered extensive damage during the Northride earthquake and closed in 1996 to make way for a new facility. In 1998, when reopened it was renamed The California Science Center
