Day 73
January 16, 2020
Pictured here is the Taft Building which was completed in 1923. The Classical Revival style building was designed by Percy A. Wisen and Albert R. Walker. It is one of the earliest high-rises built in Los Angeles. At one point the Taft Building housed the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as well as the offices of Charlie Chaplin and Will Rogers. In 1999 it was added to the list of Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments in Hollywood.
Here, I was on my way to a screening of Parasite. Super exciting because there was a Q&A with director Bong Joon-Ho, who as it turns out, is brilliant and hilarious. But, of course, I got stuck in traffic at one of the most iconic intersections in Los Angeles, Hollywood & Vine. Not to worry, though, I made it to the screening at the Cinerama Dome with plenty of time to get popcorn. Because what is a movie without popcorn…?
