Day 88
January 31, 2020
Today the job took me treasure hunting. Sometimes this is the kind thing I get to do. It’s the reason I was in Long Beach a couple weeks ago. A friend told me about this Savers location, and she was spot on! Found so much of what I needed and had a great time doing it. I may have spent several hours there and many more hundreds of dollars later, I had a carload of really great stuff. I mean, just look at this kitschy, avocado green, 70’s dream!
On a different note, this specific Savers location is partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation. So purchases here go toward the work they do into education and research therapies for those who suffer from Epilepsy, SUDEP, and seizures. Having a very close friend who recently had two seizures within three months, and seeing how those events have affected her life, make this foundation very important to me. And while she’s not been diagnosed, the course of treatment she is receiving is based on the same principles as what is prescribed to those who have been. If you would like to educate yourself or to make a donation, please click here for the Epilepsy Foundation website. Or, if you’d like to get a little shopping in for a good cause, you can find your nearest Savers here. Every year, millions of still usable items go into landfills. Recycling and upcycling is a great way to help reduce the amount of waste that goes into landfills.
